OpenMRS

OpenMRS is an open-source electronic medical record (EMR) system designed to enhance healthcare delivery in resource-constrained environments. The platform supports over 22 million patients across more than 8,100 sites in over 80 countries. OpenMRS emphasizes cost efficiency, being free to use, thus protecting health systems from vendor lock-in. The initiative is actively maintained and developed by over 20 organizations, primarily from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). It has led to the adoption of standardized clinical terminology models for data collection and interoperability standards, such as FHIR. The OpenMRS Academy plays a significant role by providing educational resources, offering courses for individuals ranging from beginners to advanced levels.
